====================================

Hello Everyone!

By now you should have recevied an e-mail that announced the release of the second book in the Rachel Raccoon and Sammy Skunk educational children's book series.  I am very excited that Rachel and Sammy Visit the Forest - A Guide to Spring Woodland Wildflowers is completed. I am sending you this note to ask you to help me spread the word about my books. I really enjoy the whole process of writing, photographing book pictures, working through the publishing process, and last but not least, marketing the books. Book marketing seems to be the most time consuming, and often frustrating of these tasks, but it is essential! If a book is not promoted, it will not sell, no matter how great the book is. There are a lot of wonderful books out there, so the market is very competitive. If you are interested in helping me, there are a few simple things that you can do. Whether you help me with one item or twelve, any help is greatly appreciated!  Below is  a list of some marketing items, and please let me know if you need more information.

1. Please forward the e-mail that came from the publisher announcing the release of Rachel and Sammy Visit the Forest to anyone who may be interested.  (Check your junk mail, just in case it went there instead of your inbox).

2. Check out and "like" my personal Rachel and Sammy Facebook Fanpage and the one set up through the publisher, Strategic Book Group. If you are already a fan of one or both pages, please suggest that your friends "like" them.  Their links are below.

3. Here are the links to the video trailers for both books. They really help to tell the story of the stories!

4. Here are the links to purchase the books through Amazon, Barnesandnoble.com, and Strategic Book Group. Several shops carry my book locally, and I always keep a supply on hand.

Of course, shipping is free through the first two places (if you order more than $25 worth of items), but shipping is farily expensive through the publisher.

5. Though I am constantly promoting the books and contacting bookstores and other shops about carrying my books or scheduling book events, I always welcome new ideas!

6. I have donated books to my daughers' school libaries and my hometown libaries, but if you think your libary would like to add Rachel and Sammy books to their collection, please ask them to order them.

7. Books can be purchased for resale (and I believe for libraries) directly through the publisher for the 50% rate, plus shipping. The books are also carried through Ingram Books, a wholesaler where many bookstores order their books. I can send you details, if you are interested.

8. I attached a flyer that gives some general information about the books. I also have a press release, postcards and business cards available for marketing purposes.

9. My website is: www.rachelandsammy.com. One of these days I hope to have more time to add educational activites, photos, and other things to the site.

10. I have several book events scheduled to coincide with the release of the second book and holiday shopping. Events are listed on my Rachel and Sammy Facebook page. My books are regularly stocked at the shops where I am doing book signings. Stop by and say hello, and let friends and family who may live in the area know. Events include:

Saturday, November 20th - Amber Jar Antiques - Altona, IL - 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 27th - Amma's Studio - Princeton, IL  - 10:00 a.m. to noon
Saturday, December 4th - Brighter Life Bookshoppe - Galesburg, IL - 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Friday, December 10th - the coffeE cup - Henry, IL - 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

11. Book reviews are very effective to help potential buyers make a decision about purchasing a book through an online retailer. Since most people are buying the book sight unseen, it is helpful if they can read through several reviews. This is really important when the book is written by a new and unknown author, like me! If you have read one or both of the books and would like to write customer reviews on Amazon.com and/or Barnesandnoble.com, I would really appreciate that! If you already have an account, it is fairly simple to write a review. You can write a review using the same links I inserted above in number 4.

12. It is really simple to "tag" the books at Amazon.com. Tags are labels that are associated with the type and subject of a particular book, and it is helpful to have several customers "agree" with the tags that are listed for your book, as my books will come up when these "tags" are entered as search criteria.

13. I am available to do book readings and educational programs related to the books. Please contact me if you are interested in having me talk to your group. I do programs for both youth and adults.

14. The books can be sold to raise funds for your school, church, or organization. Books can be purchased for resale through the publisher at the 50% rate, plus shipping. There is no minimum or maximum order. I am available to purchase unsold books and would be happy to sign books for this type of event. Please contact me for more information. Though there is probably time to have a pre-holiday fund raiser, these books would work well to use as a spring or summer fundraiser, given the NATURE of the books. Books are "print on demand" and are printed in the good old USA!

If you are interested in helping me out with one, two, or a few of these items, I would really appreciate it! The book marketing business is a lot of fun and very rewarding, but it is time consuming a lot of hard work. When things calm down a little after my upcoming scheduled events, I hope to continue work on book number three -- Rachel and Sammy Learn About Trees. I have been busy for the past month taking photos and plan to start putting my ideas on paper after the new year.

Thanks again for everyone's help and support, and let me know if you have any questions.

Jan
